Thank God and Scotland
…for Peter Capaldi.
In a very long and windy way that I won’t go into, I can pretty much say that without that particular Scottish actor to ignite a creative spark in me, I wouldn’t be where I am today. That sounds weird and maybe a bit over the top, but it’s true, and I can tell you the story if you ever have the time.
This particular line comes from an interview in Doctor Who Magazine number 503 from showrunner Steven Moffat. “We could argue for the rest of our lives about who’s the best Doctor – and lets be honest we will – but for me, the best single performance in the role is settled forever. You can only ask a solo of a virtuoso, so thank God and Scotland for Peter Capaldi.” Certain members of the fandom decided the line needed to be on a shirt, and because that’s a role I have decided for myself, I heeded the call.
For the first few days there was a small but pleasant response to the shirts (keeping in mind that “5” is a big deal to me), and then came the email that would change my life forever. Well, my nerd cred forever: as my dad has put it, Mrs. Doctor Who purchased two of these shirts. That, my friends, is one hell of a relationship goal set right there.
For various reasons, these shirts are printed at my print shop, which enables me to to add one minor touch – gold ink. So these prints actually have a subtle metallic/glitter sheen to them, which is pretty cool to me. This is also my very first foray into this type of typography design, which has ended up becoming an incredibly handy asset for my deign wheelhouse.
